Mount Kenya is Africa’s second-highest mountain and one of the continent’s most rewarding trekking destinations. Rising to 5,199 meters above sea level, it offers dramatic alpine scenery, diverse ecosystems, and a less-crowded alternative to Kilimanjaro. Climbers pass through lush rainforest, bamboo zones, moorlands, and rugged alpine landscapes before reaching the high peaks. Mount Kenya is ideal for both adventurous trekkers and experienced climbers. While most hikers aim for Point Lenana, a non-technical summit accessible with proper acclimatization, advanced climbers can tackle the technical peaks of Batian and Nelion. This Sirimon - Chogoria Route is much more scenic than Naromoru. Being on the dry side of the mountain, it offers some of the finest walking. Climb up through the forest into a wide ridge approach to the summit area. The route starts on the northwest side of the mountain near Nanyuki. Access is adequate, and the bunkhouse facilities are the best on this side of the mountain
