Safari Overview
This is a 3-day and 2-night safari that starts and ends in Nairobi. You will use the Madaraka Express train, commonly known as the SGR train, to travel from Nairobi to Voi, and back. This is one of the most popular Tsavo West National Park safari packages that we offer.
Overview of Salt Lick Safari Lodge
Salt Lick Safari Lodge is inside Tsavo West National Park in Kenya. The entire lodge is on high stilts above watering holes and feeding pastures. This Lodge offers a spectacular view of the wildlife from above.
This Lodge is situated amid the Taita Hills Sanctuary, a private wildlife conservation area. Tsavo West National Park is one of the world’s largest game reserves. Accommodation at the Salt Lick Safari Lodge, earlier operated as Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge, is the perfect place to explore the natural environment.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Nairobi to Tsavo West National Park
You will depart Nairobi in the morning with a heading for Mtito Andei, where, upon arrival at the train station, you will be picked up by your driver guide and transferred to the lodge. You will then check in and have a rest as you enjoy the lodge's facilities, and later on have your lunch. After lunch, you will have a short rest before departing for your afternoon game drive in the park, where you will also get a chance to visit the artifacts museum at Taita Hills Safari Resort & Spa. Later on, you will go back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Tsavo West National Park
On this day, you will have your breakfast before going for a game drive. During your game drive, you will have a chance of seeing the big cats of Tsavo and other animals like the elephant, rhino, Hippos, lions, cheetah, leopards, buffalo, diverse plants, and bird species, including the threatened corncrake and near-threatened Basra Reed Warbler. Later on, go back to the lodge for your lunch and a short rest before going for an afternoon game drive.
Tsavo to Nairobi
After your morning breakfast, you will leave the lodge with an en-route game drive to the train station for your train back to Nairobi, marking the end of a memorable Salt Lick Safari Lodge safari with Expeditions Maasai Safaris.
